Shadow against the sky </b>

I don't remember thinking how being immortal would surely be great. I must have, because every mortal has wondered that at some point. But it was so long ago I can't remember.
It's kind of funny.
Because, if you go deeper than the pretty sound of the phrase 'live for ever', I can't understand how that could ever be... great. Well, may be I matured over the years. Yes, year after year after decade after what? A century already?... probably; I've been watching this very unchanging different sunset, and sighing at another day I missed, and I can't, I honestly can't see how not ageing and just... remaining, like part of the landscape, can ever be great.
Talking from experience I know that seeing people around you grow old, forget you, and die, isn't anyone's idea of having a good time. And time drags, and at the same time, it never lasts enough.
But I need to calm down.
You aren't immortal until you're immortal, and when you are, it's too late to find it's not so cool, but people could never know that. And so they long for what's probably the worst curse... oh, this is just, ridiculous. I, vampire, musing about immortality... As if any greatness came with that.
I'm just a shadow against the sky. We're both unending and distant, but there's something ironic in that phrase: If I ever had a shadow, I'd be dead or dying.
...
'Shadow against the sky'... it sounds beautiful...
Oh, but beauty isn't immortal.
I did this as a insight to Kei's character (from the movie, 'MoonChild';). Kei is a vampire.
But it could be taken as general fiction, since no name is included ^^
